Crossing Rachmaninoff  selected for Rome Independent Film Festival

Crossing Rachmaninoff has been selected for screening in competition at the 2016 Rome Independent Film Festival.

It will screen in competition in the International Documentary category alongside films from France, Japan and the USA.

RIFF is a longstanding and respected festival in Rome. This year's edition, which runs from 24 to 30 November at the Cinema Savoy in Rome, will be its 16th.

The Rome selection follows the film's screening at the Napa Valley Film Festival 2016 from 9 to 13 November. Napa Valley Film Festival is a well-regarded event with a history of presenting high quality, independent films from around the world alongside a programme of industry events. Its programming team has invited Crossing Rachmaninoff to screen in its prestigious Special Screenings section.

Sometimes the hardest journey is one we choose.

Aspiring piano soloist Flavio Villani is preparing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 for his first orchestral performance. He must challenge traditional musical thinking and battle personal demons for a chance to make music his life. Crossing Rachmaninoff is a personal odyssey, with all the elements of drama and catharsis that Rachmaninoff himself depicts so splendidly. It explores the fundamental desire to be accepted for who we are, the beauty of music and the courage of those who make it.
